Addicted to Thinking

The Path to Relief and Happinez in Life

Auteur: Jan Geurtz
Addicted to Thinking - cover
Why is it that we often seem to have no control over what we think? Why do we start thinking more when we are plagued by restrictive thoughts? And why is it that in case of an unpleasant event in the future, we bother ourselves with anxious thoughts about it weeks in advance? In Addicted to Thinking, Jan Geurtz dissects the phenomenon of thinking and shows that it is our most fundamental addiction. Because of our thinking, and the belief in the authenticity of our thoughts, we are stuck in the straitjacket of a false image of ourselves and reality. As a result, we continue to be trapped in a vicious cycle of unpleasant thoughts and painful feelings. Geurtz draws on both modern Western insights and authentic Eastern spirituality, and relates them to each other. The result is a lucid description of the exploration of our fundamental nature.
